2014 CAFE Opening

The 2006 award-winning documentary "The Boys of Baraka" is the poignant story of the journey of four young African-American boys who travel to rural Kenya for their sixth-grade year of school and attend a program dedicated to preparing young men from East Baltimore to succeed both academically and socially and defy the dropout statistics plaguing their community back home. The film won an NAACP Image Award, a Special Jury Prize at the South by Southwest Film Festival, an Audience Award Best Feature Film at the Silverdocs Festival, and the Gold Hugo Award at the Chicago Film Festival.

Dr. Suárez-Orozco and Dr. Carlos Torres will host the welcome speech.
